Tempestade [num copo d’água]

THE TEMPEST [inside a glass of water]

A dinner-performance by Chef Rø

A vintage dinner prepared by Chef Rø [aka Rogério Nuno Costa], inspired by William Shakespeare’s “The Tempest”, the incidental (and finlandized) music of Sibelius, the homoerotic iconography from the pre-Raphaelite period, the portrayal of the monster in the science fiction of the 50s, and Freud’s psychology revised by contemporary Quantum Physics. To turn a classic theatre play into a tasting hyper-sensory experience is quite like shooting a nautical war scene inside a plastic glass, amplifying the result for the cinema screen. Therefore, this dinner (which is “vintage” for it happens in the future conditional) is going to serve a scale problem in the form of food: culinary equations, sensual and absolute, trying to solve the allegoric duplicities that torment us for so many centuries. Just like Art, Food itself has been turned into Design. However, because History is similar to the “memory of water” in the homeopathic medicine — that is, suffers from Alzheimer disease —, nothing remains for us but to honour Prospero’s rationality and substitute “molecular” by “molar”: water can also be chewed! “Tempest [inside a glass of water” is then an alter-classic banquet for you to aspirate and wait for the “tertiary” side effects…
